Social Scales

Social Scales is a series of classes serving adults and young adults. It's part of our Music Making Minds outreach in Kansas City

Social Scales & Studies for Violin

Much like a spin class at a gym or a group tennis class at a leisure center, Social Scales & Studies for Violin is a group class serving Intermediate and Advanced Violinists (adults & high schoolers) focusing purely on improving violin technique in a supportive, social environment.

This 90 minute supervised practice session selects Scales, Etudes and Excerpts to improve sight reading and playing confidence. They are played together as a group and worked on with the coach each session.

There is no long term commitment or practice is required to participate. Participants may come as regularly or as little as they like. The goals of each session are:

  • to make you more relaxed and confident in making music with others
  • to improve your ability to play the violin
  • to help you prepare for things like auditions and festivals

Space is limited each week, so if you'd like to give it a try, just sign up below!

Recommended books for the class are:

Kreutzer - 42 Etudes for violin

Paganini - 24 Caprices

Schradiek - School of Violin Technique Vol. I

Scales will be practiced from memory.
