The Opus 76 Quartet: Sunrise Program is a mentoring initiative by The Friends of The Opus 76 Quartet. It’s aim is to provide four talented young musicians of high school age or younger from the Kansas City Metro area with:
This Program, sponsored by generous donors of The Friends of the Opus 76 Quartet, will identify and nurture talented young aspiring musicians who are interested in a career in classical music, and give successful applicants an experience of what it is like to be in a professional string quartet - from the practice room to the stage.
For the 2020/21 Season, there are four positions available in The Opus 76 Quartet: Sunrise Program : 2 violins, 1 viola and 1 ‘cello. The violinists will rotate between 1st and 2nd violin, and the quartet will perform at least two movements per concert.
All tuition will take place in accordance with contemporaneous local health guidelines and ordinances.

Please take repeats where marked. Applicants are free to choose
whichever articulations best suit their musical vision, and are encouraged to “go beyond the score” - whilst remaining true to the spirit of the piece. We’re most interested in hearing your individual musical interpretation of each excerpt. In addition, applicants must write one paragraph explaining why they would appreciate the opportunities this program affords its students.
